Global Entrepreneurship Week offered so much to so many  14 th – 18th Nov

I had an exciting week and thought I would share with you here some of my highlights and some of the great events that were on offer, and what I learned along the way:

Day 1 Directors Day Out!

Jo in a FerrariKicked off the week very differently, I spent the day driving fast cars round a race track with my web designer and our husbands!

This was all part of me overcoming my fears of driving, check out my previous blog, To fear or not to fear!

Lesson: It’s amazing what you can achieve if you put your mind to it! Imagine it all working out perfectly for a change. Stay calm and drive on!

Day 2  Started with delivering a Workshop at Third Door in Wandsworth

Third Door is a very clever space combining a nursery on the ground floor with snazzy office space upstairs, that was designed by Shazia to help entrepreneurs work on their businesses while their kids are being well looked after in the nursery. Genius. No wonder she won a Smarta100 Award.

I helped her clients, busy Business Mums by showing them a new way of organising themselves to help them get more done in the day and showed them a brilliant de-stressing technique, to help their work life balance.

Then back to my office to help guide a client through the process of interviewing candidates, something she’d never done before.  All prepared, she’s feeling more confident now and conducted her first ever telephone interviews and arranged 2 face to face interviews.  She’s now chosen her first member of staff.  Great work.

Lesson: Running a business and being a Mum is a tough combo.  Hats off to them!  I’m a step mum but she didn’t move in until she was 16 which I imagine must be easier than having a new born baby as we could talk about things.  De-stressing techniques are essential and taking the time to organise your day is vital to getting more done.  Then you have time for both your business and your family.  Stay calm and carry on!

Day 3    My Myth Busting Sales Workshop on Wednesday was a great success

A great group of women joined me to learn more about Sales and not be scared of it!

I shared my Six Steps to implement a Sales process into their business, coupled with NLP techniques for maximum effect.

As a surprise, I had gorgeous workbooks for them, thanks to Sheree my VA who helped me design them.

Already delegates are seeing success, woohoo!  Tamsin sent me an email the next day saying:

“I am SO GLAD I went to your Sales workshop Jo.  I came away with a new understanding and confidence around the sales process, and the most useful manual to refer back to.  Thank you, Jo, for making sales easy”. Tamsin Fox Davies

Lesson: Getting help with something that you want to improve makes a HUGE difference (if sales is something you want to improve check out my next workshop).

Day 4   Skype sessions and more good news!

I’m loving the way that Skype has enabled me to give powerhour sessions to help keep my clients motivated and on track as they implement their new business strategies that we’ve worked out.  It works a treat.

I received a fantastic call from a client that had given a brilliant presentation to 15 lawyers following 2 coaching sessions with me to overcome her dread and nerves at even the mention of doing a presentation! She survived and even enjoyed it! So she’s booked herself to do another one as she had great feedback and can see how her new found confidence will really help to open more doors for her business.

I added her feedback to my client success file straight away.

Lesson: That was such a break through for my client and will make a huge difference to her business now.  When your clients tell you that you’ve helped them, really own it.    Keep that compliment/testimonial on hand to remind you of how good you are, and to inspire you to keep doing it.  As I encourage my clients, give yourself a pat on the back. Good job, well done 🙂

Day 5   I attended the Business Start-Up Show

I spent the morning following up with my delegates from my Sales Workshop and am so impressed that one had already planned out 2012 already. That’s what I call record timing implementation.  Well done Jacqui.

Then off I went to the Business Start Up show in Earls Court and saw Marcie Buxton from Tamaka Women who had great presence on stage.  She owned it!

5 minutes from leaving and I met an Arbonne Consultant. We chatted and clicked and planned a day for her Consultants to attend my Myth Busting Sales Workshop so they can maximise opportunities and win more new clients.

Lesson: Be yourself and have a good chat with people;  it starts to build relationships and you never know who you will meet or when it will lead to a sale.

All in all a great 5 days.  I feel proud that I was part of Global Entrepreneurship Week and helped some entrepreneurs to grow their businesses.  That’s what I’m here for!
